Would Any One Go for a Diamonique, Diamond Nexus or Moissanite Wedding Set Versus a Real Diamond?
Times are hard and so I don't want my bf to starve himself to death or start selling his stuff and so I considered settling with a diamond simulant as a cheap alternative. Any thoughts on this??

My engagement ring is moissanite. Cost not considered, I would still prefer moissanite over a diamond. Here's mine: http://www.moissaniteco.com/round-brilliant-moissanite-6prong-trellis-engagement-ring-p-9778.html
Just a note, moissanite isn't actually a diamond simulant, it is its own unique gemstone, far too much fire and brilliance to be used as a fake diamond.
As far as CZ options, I would go with the asha. It is a top quality CZ with diamond top coat designed to look exactly like an ideal cut H&A diamond. I would also gladly choose this option over a diamond. Check out the asha here: http://www.ashadiamonds.com/
You might also consider gemstones which are almost always much cheaper than a diamond.

I decided a long time ago that I don't want a real diamond wedding ring. There's always a risk that the stone is a conflict diamond, meaning that it was mined by slave labor and traded for weapons by a rebel army. Besides, you don't need a diamond in order to have a happy marriage.
The diamond companies have brainwashed us into believing that we NEED a diamond, and that only a diamond is a suitable expression of a man's love. But up until about 75 years ago, the wedding ring stone of choice was a garnet, or it was just a plain gold band. And did you know that DeBeers (the largest diamond company) has a massive warehouse with trillions of dollars worth of diamonds? They are slowly released into the market in order to keep the price artificially high. If all the diamonds in that warehouse were released at once, the price of a one carat diamond would probably be $100. So I decided I'm not going to play their game.
So I think you should be smart and get a good-quality artificial diamond, at least for now. The important thing is that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you, right? You can always upgrade in a few years when he's making more money.
I wouldn't want a fake diamond, there's something about having something fake on your hand representing your commitment and intent to marry that bothers me.
BUT if cost were an issue to be considered, I would want exactly the engagement ring I got -- a genuine gemstone engagement ring.
My engagement ring is a moissanite and I love the fire and brilliance. It cost 10% the price of a comparable diamond. And not even my mother has figured out that it's not a diamond! (Everyone assumes it's diamond and I don't tell them differently.) I suspect the people putting out anti-moissanite info are in the diamond industry. Also the Mohs hardness of moissanite is 9.25, second only to diamond at 10. Not bad if you're not planning to cut glass with it. I think moissanite is a much better bargain than diamond.
Most definitely. My biggest worry would be that the stone was strong enough to stand the same punishment and time a diamond would, or close to the same strength and quality.
I think this is a great way to save money and to get the look of your ring without the extreme costs of a diamond. And in the future, when you guys can afford a bigger diamond, you could always replace it later with a real diamond but get the larger setting with a different stone now.
I would consider a different type of genuine gemstone as opposed to a diamond stimulant. There are tons of beautiful gemstones out there that make wonderful engagement rings at a fraction of the price of diamonds! My personal favorites are Sapphire and Blue Topaz!
The suggestions you have gotten about moissanite are good ones, I have seen some STUNNING engagement rings made from that opposed to diamonds.
If you opt for a diamond stimulant, make sure you do your homework before buying. Research how they look and how they appear in relation to a real diamond. Also research how strong they are and if they are going to be able to stand up to the rigors of your every day life. I have seen diamond stimulant rings that were stunning and I would gladly wear, and others that were clearly chincy and lacked quality. If you are going that route you definitely want to do your homework and pick something that you know has the beauty that every girl wants in her engagement ring regardless of stone type or price.
I have a traditional diamond ring, that is because that is the route my FH wanted to go. Even though when we went to look together I pointed out styles of gem stone rings I would have loved in place of a traditional ring. I would have been tickled with just about anything though.
Don't spend money you can't afford to spend on a mined diamond because that's what you're "supposed" to do. Diamond Nexus Labs' stones are the best option out there. I bought my daughter some earrings and every jeweler, her friends, and everyone else thinks they're real. Plus they are guaranteed for life!
Give it a shot. They have a 30-day return policy. I actually exchanged my daughters for a smaller size and it was quite simple to work with them...great customer service.
P.S
My wife used to wear a moissanite for her travel ring and I think it looks sooo gaudy in sunlight. Not impressed.
I am looking at getting a sapphire center stone with five small moissanites on the sides. I bought a moissanite wedding set online and I thought it was really pretty but only inside. Outside it looked too sparkly and fake. And several people even said it was fake. So I got tired of trying to explain it and decided I wanted something unique
my new ring has moissanite but b/c the stones are so small it doesn't look fake
